Prof. Dr. Brig. Gen. Md Abdur Rakib graduated from Dhaka Medical College and secured 4th position in the combined merit list under the University of Dhaka.He joined Bangladesh Army Medical Corps and worked in different capacities in Armed Forces Medical College for a long period. He was promoted to Professor of Urology in 2018 and is working as so in AFMC till date. Professor Rakib obtained Fellowship in Surgery FCPS (S), FCPS (Urology) and MCPS from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also obtained FRCS (Glasgow) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK and FACS (USA) from the American College of Surgeons. He was awarded the Maj Gen (Retd.) K M Siraj Zinnat "Gold Medal" by Bangladesh Association of Urological Surgeons. Professor Rakib underwent post-fellowship advance training in different subspecialties of urology, kidney transplant at (AIMS) in India, Institute of Kidney Disease and Research Centre, Gujarat, India, LASER Lithotripsy from AINU, Hyderabad, India and RP Hospital, India, Reconstructive urology, PUNE, Robotic Urology, Laparoscopic Urology from the National University Hospital, Singapore and Westchester Hospital, New York. He participated in many National and International Congresses, seminars, symposiums and workshops in the USA, Australia, Singapore, Hongkong, Malaysia, and India. Dr. Rakib has more than 20 publications in journals. He is an active and life member of many national and international professional bodies namely, Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons, Bangladesh Association of Urological Surgeons, Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh, Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Bangladesh, Society Internationale D" Urologie, American Urological Association, European Association of Urology, Urological Association of Asia and World Endourology Society & Transplant.
