Dr Vamsi Krishna Yerramsetty is an accomplished vascular and endovascular surgeon with more than 16 years of experience. As the leader of multidisciplinary teams consisting of nephrologists, diabetologists, dialysis technicians, radiologists, interventionists, and vascular surgeons, he provides state of the art care for patients with vascular disease. The areas of special interest in his practise include the management of vascular access in dialysis patients, limb salvage in diabetic and non-diabetic patients, and aneurysm surgery.
He completed his MBBS from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad and gained DNB in General Surgery from Yashoda hospital, Hyderabad. Having pursued his interest in vascular surgery through a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the Jain Institute of Vascular Sciences, Bangalore, he went on to complete advanced training in vascular surgery at the Leeds Vascular Institute, Leeds, UK (one of the largest vascular units in Europe).
During the last 16 years, he worked in several areas of surgery related to cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and plastic surgery, so he has a broader range of skills that are important for the comprehensive care of vascular patients. During the COVID pandemic, his unconditional support was provided to patients with critically ill conditions, providing ECMO that saved several lives.
The impact of his work on vascular access, varicose veins and peripheral arterial disease is recognized nationally and internationally. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to speak at several conferences. Additionally to his clinical commitment, he has a keen interest in educating the public about the diseases associated with vascular disorders. He has been giving continuous medical education to vascular and non-vascular healthcare professionals in Telangana and Andhra to raise awareness about the identification and diagnosis of common vascular conditions, such as diabetic foot and deep vein thrombosis.
