Brief Profile:
Prof (Dr) D Mukherjee is an alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune where he did his MBBS & MD (Medicine). Subsequently he went on to do his DM (Nephrology) from PGIMER Chandigarh, which is the foremost training institution for nephrology in India. During an illustrious carreer spanning 28 year, Prof Dr D Mukherjee headed the Dept. of Nephrology & Renal Transplant at a number of superspeciality hospitals including the Army Hospital Research and Referral at Delhi and Armed Forces Medical College Pune. He is a dedicated clinician, erudite scholar and brilliant researcher. He is an acknowledged expert in many aspects of nephrology including cadaveric renal transplant, ABO incompatible renal transplant and Interventional Nephrology. He is credited with starting the ABO incompatible renal transplant program and Interventional Nephrology program in the Armed Forces. His passion in teaching is reflected by the fact that he is a teacher and examiner for MBBS, MD (Med), DNB (Med), DNB (Nephrology) and DM (Nephrology).
As an acknowledgement of his dedication to patient care, professionalism and academic brilliance he has received many awards, decorations and fellowships including the Mannakal Medal in Medicine, Fellowship’s of the Indian College of Physicians, Indian Society of Nephrology, Indian Society of Organ Transplant, and American Society of Nephrology. He has vast experience in all aspects of nephrology including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, vascular access and renal transplant. He is recipient of the Meritt Awards 2020 as the best nephrologist and most trusted transplant physician of North India.
