Dr. Prof. Surendran R is the Director of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Centre for Surgery and Transplantation at MIOT International Hospitals, Manapakkam, Chennai, and has an experience of over 47 years in his chosen field. Dr. Prof. Surendran completed MBBS from Stanley Medical College & Hospital, Chennai in 1975; MS from Stanley Medical College & Hospital, Chennai in 1979; and MCh - Surgical Gastroenterology / G.I. Surgery from Madras Medical College in 1990. He is a member of the Association of Surgery of India, Indian Society of Gastroenterology, Indian Society of Oncology (ISO), Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology and Indian Society of International HBP Surgery
- Dr. Surendran R is a well known Surgical Gastroenterologist with 23+ years of dedicated experience.
- He is the pioneer of establishing successful liver transplant, the only of its kind in the government sector throughout India. He also pioneered the establishment of Cadaver Maintenance Programme, which was a first across the globe.
- He has won many accolades for his work having being adjudged Best Doctor by Tamil Nadu Government in 2002. He also received the special mention award in 2010 by Tamil Nadu Government.
- He was honored by a D. Sc (Hon) degree from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. University
- He is a member of Association of Surgeons of India, Tamil Nadu Medical Council and the Asian Surgical Leaders Forum. He is also the member of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Indian Society of Oncology, Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India, Indian Association of SGE, Indian Chapter of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Society and International Gastro-Surgical Club
- Dr. Surendran R has written and published several papers on his work and also presented and participated in several workshops, conferences and CMEs.
- He completed MBBS from Madras University, Chennai, India in 1991, MS - General Surgery from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (TNMGRMU) in 1995 and MCh - Surgical Gastroenterology/G.I. Surgery from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (TNMGRMU) in 1990.
