Dr.Harun Completed MBBS in 1982 from Chittagong Medical College and hospital. Completed Dip. Card from Hammersmith, Hospital, Imperial College, University of London.
He did one year Training in clinical and interventional Cardiology under Professor Emeritus Dr. Sufia Rahman (Known as mother of interventional cardiology in Bangladesh), NICVD, Dhaka. After Dip Card, Dr. Harun did six months training in clinical and interventional cardiology in Hammersmith Hospital, London.
He joined NHFH as Regitrar in Cardiology where he worked under Professor Emeritus Dr. Sufia Rahman. Interventional cardiology was actually flourished in Bangladesh from that time. Dr. Harun was the first assistant of Professor Emeritus Dr. Sufia Rahman in all cath , lab procedures.
Dr. Harun did his Felloship in interventional cardiology from Apollo Hospitals, Chenni, India. In Apollo he was the cathiab registrar, had the chance to work with many reknown nterventionalist of India including Dr. Methew Samuel klarical. Dr. Methew is Known as Father of Interventional cardiology in India.
He underwent interventional cardiology training in Charles Nicole Hospital, France under professor Dr. Alain Cribier, one of the pioneer interventionalist in Europe. Prof Cribier is the pioneer of developing breakthrough technologies for the treatment of valvular heart diseases. He was the first performer of transcather implantation of aortic valve (TAVI) in the world.
Dr. Harun had the chance to work with three World Reknown Intervevtionalist of Bangladesh, India and France. He was the second in Bangladesh to deploy drug eluted stent in Bangladesh.He was the senior consultant for around 18 years in Sikder Medical College Hospital, Gulshan branch, Dhaka.
Besides huge experience in clinical and interventional cardiology, he has many publications, published in the medical journals of Bangladesh and USA.
He is the member of many national and international professional bodies.
